Vikings grew their own food and baked their food with their produce. They grew wheat,
barley and rye. They baked their own porridge and sometimes they put peas in
it. They grew and ate cabbage, onion and leeks. Vikings used herbs like dill and
coriander. They grew apples, plums and gathered wild berries. The Vikings often
ate fish as it was a very important part of their diet. They often ate cod and
herring. They raised pigs, cows, sheep’s and goats. Vikings kept geese and
chickens. They made a drink called mead, it is made of honey, water and yeast.
They ate pork, beef and horse and goat meat. They hunted whales and seals for
their meat.
