.Trade.
Vikings traded to exchange goods and money. The most common things they traded were wolf
skins, shoes and gold and silver coins. Traders carried a small folding scale
round with them so they can weigh the coins because they used to value coins by
their weight. All Viking men wanted to be rich so they can own a farm. Young
men might go on a trading voyage or become a raider. The Vikings went to the
markets in Hedeby and Denmark and Jorvik in England.

.Slaves.
Slaves did the dirtiest jobs in a Vikings family. They are also called Thralls. Many slaves were captured in raids but some people could be born as a slave. If the baby had a slave mum and a slave dad then it would also be a slave, but if the baby had a slave mum and a free dad the child would be free. Viking traders traded slaves in the markets but this was stopped in England in 1102.
