Viking children would stay at home with their mothers as they didn’t go to school.
Sometimes they would help their parents at work. Their mothers would teach them
Viking history, religion and law from spoken stories or songs. They never
taught by books. The son usually took their dads name. E.g. Eric the son of Karl
would be Eric Karlsson. The daughters took their mothers or grandmothers name.
At fifteen or sixteen they are classified as an adult. When the daughter was
ready to be married it was common for the father to pick her husband.
